Reported in the Independent.ie "People in the east of Ireland will need to hold on to their hats today as Met Éireann has issued a status yellow wind warning.

Gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h are expected in Dublin, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Meath.

The warning will remain in place until 12pm on Tuesday.

AA Roadwatch is urging motorists to take extreme care driving in windy conditions and has warned that roads across the country are very ‘icy’ this morning.

The Sally Gap in Wicklow was described as being “impassable”.

Meanwhile, last night's frost and fog is expected to clear today, but some “wet snow is possible”.

Other parts of the country will remain dry with hazy sunshine.

Heavy showers are due to affect parts of the west and northwest and there may be a slight risk of thunder.

Temperatures will range between 4 and 7 degrees, with the wind adding a “chill effect”.

Tonight will be wet and windy, with some falls of sleet and snow.

The cold weather will continue into the night with temperatures as low as 1 to 3 degrees. Wrap up warm Ireland and throw an eye on your neighbours :)
